The boyfriend and I are watching Superman while enjoying a few beers and some homemade popcorn. Owen just said, and I quote, “What will happen when you hit that kryptonite, boy?” and “Do you know how much resistance force water exerts?” Yes, he’s talking shit to the TV screen/Superman. Oh, how I love this boy. In other news, I think Brie just ate a may fly.

I don’t have the best skin nor do I have the genetics to overcome my skin woes. Therefore, I try to micromanage my little issues with an intense skincare regimen and amazing makeup (Bare Escentuals..I’ve been a convert for almost 2 years). Imagine my surprise when I read today that I could have completely clear skin if I just forgo all my maintenance and let my skin just exist for a month. As tempting as this sounds, I’m not sure that I can leave behind all my trick-of-the-trades or specialized face creams…not to mention that I’m not a fan of my bare skin. So, I suppose I will continue with the status quo: troubled skin with a side of concealer. I find it funny the things we refuse to do without despite the greater good that could be achieved with minimal sacrifice.

I’m a self-professed magazine addict. The list for titles that I purchase habitually each month far out-numbers the list that I don’t purchase (including dated, disappointing Cosmopolitan). However, I see these purchases as an investment, because being current on fashion trends is applicable to my chosen career path (at least, that’s what I tell my boyfriend when he complains about the stack in our bedroom). My dilemma has always been when I should trash these invaluable resources (or if I even should).
That’s when I came up with the brilliant idea (ha, I probably internalized it from an article I read in one of the aforementioned magazines) to create an “Ideas & Inspirations” portfolio. So, for the past year I’ve been cutting out various things that strike my fancy (from makeup tips to exercise programs to interviews from influential people) and putting them in my uber-special binder.
Ta-Dah!
I’ve divided the sections into “Diet/Exercise,” “Articles/Random,” “Interior Design,” “Hair, Makeup, Fashion” and “Music, Literature, Etc.”
For example, this is the beginning of “Interior Design.
My selection process is quite simple. First, I have an initial reading that takes place immediately after purchasing the magazine. Then, I let it incubate for a few months. At this point, I’m no longer attached to the new-ness of the publication and can part with it without regret. Then, I have a final review where I select those random things that catch my eye. I cut these out, hole punch them and place them in the book under the appropriate tab.
A page from my “I&I” book. I find this Marc Jacob’s chair very inspirational because of its simple lines and vintage appeal.
This is just an idea on how to eliminate clutter in your own life and maybe find a place for those things that you find especially striking.

Since I love to spread the good word about various forms of media, I’m going to make a weekly habit of picking new/interesting elements to throw your away. Indulge in my recomendations, give me your opinion, recommend something to me…let’s broaden our horizens together (how very PBS after school special).
Books: Currently, I’m reading Delivery Man by Joe McGinniss, Jr. The book is set in modern day Las Vegas, and the main character is a twenty-something slacker/artist who is torn between a prostitute dreamer gal (his love interest from youth) and an over-achiever Ivy-Leaguer (his college girlfriend). The plot is centered around this young man’s inability to escape his past, in particular a certain event that changed his life for the better (but the memory of it won’t let him grow). Plus, there is a slight overtone on the destruction of youth with drugs, alcohol and party culture. An interesting, fast-paced read.
Music: This week, my cubicle has been rocking with jams from The Hold Steady. In partcular, “Boys And Girls In America,” the perfect summer-time grill-out soundtrack. My favorite tracks from this album include: “Massive Night,” “First Night” and “Chips Ahoy!”. I’m also feeling Ingrid Michaelson’s “Girls and Boys.” Yes, it’s the chick from the Old Navy commercial, and yes, the entire album is just as catchy as that one song. My picks from this one are “The Hat”, “Far Away” and “Breakable.”
Now it’s your turn. What have you seen/read/heard that you love? Share the wealth. We all know that the press is too commercial to promote anything that is decent, so it’s up to you to let others know that moves you.

Brie broke in to our trash again while we were at work. Not that I blame her, because Owen left a delicious chicken wrapper in there just to tempt her. She was sent to her cage without supper. Not really…she was only in there for 30 minutes-ish, but she looked pathetic the entire time.

I hear that abc is already canceling Cashmere Mafia. This makes me sad, because I enjoy waking up to crap TV on Saturday mornings (this includes CM-twin, Lipstick Jungle).

So, I’m on the hunt for something equally as trashy for my streaming pleasure. I’ve researched Quarterlife, but I think it may be a tad too interesting for Saturday mornings.
PS-Dylan is hot!

My pretty, pretty princess keeps digging in the neighbor’s garbage (not that they should store their mounds of garbage on the stairwell anyway), and she has the nastiest farts. I don’t know why she would choose rotting filth over high-quality dog food. In related news, she ransacked our house this evening while O and I were running errands. She chewed on anything she could find including a package of light bulbs. Luckily, she nor any bulbs were harmed during her temper-tantrum. Brie was immediately sent to her cage with no dinner (not that she wanted any…thanks, trashy neighbor).

At first, just the touch of a hand would suffice. I would get a quick rush with a lasting tingle. Hand holding became less casual…I moved on to kissing. Light, closed-mouth kisses. Fireworks exploding. Somehow this high seemed to burn brighter but faster than the last. Urgent kissing…I want more. Hard kissing leading to awkward fumbling leading to more…
A drug addict searching for the next high but never able to recreate the initial rush from the first hit. Why wasn’t I content to just hold hands?
