Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for Miss Britney Spears, she decides to try an anime spoof (please god, tell me these people weren’t serious about this). I already find anime creepy, but if you add Brit’s synth-heavy crap-tastic pop…well, just watch the clip.

This morning I heard part of an interview with the Jonas Brothers. “Heard” being the operative word in that sentence, because I’m not sure I could discern anything amid all the screaming pubescent girls. Welcome, latest flash in the pan.
Far from a new concept, the Jonas Brothers are simply the Elvis of this generation (Hanson was my Elvis). Beautiful, stylish, mainstream and remotely talented (long hair and dance moves optional)..this formula, when applied to a few young boys, equals platinum records multiple times over and legions of adoring fans. That is until one of them comes out of the closet, goes to rehab or does lines off a stripper’s silicone breasts as her friend tapes it. Or until you and your fan base become to old to continue with the facade.
So, I say soak it up while you can, Jonas Brothers. Don’t complain about the crowds, because you’ll miss it when you’re washed up at the age of 26 and unrecognizable even to the clientele at your local Walmart.
PS The hardcore Hanson fanatics of my youth are now into Disturbed, have small children and LOATHE pop music. Yikes!

Visit pandora, create an account and choose your favorite artist. Then, Pandora will create a custom radio station of similar artists. It’s a great way to discover new artist. While your at it, choose M.I.A. as one of your artist, so you can hear some excerpts of “Kala”…my pick of the week. I’ve had this album for a while, but it’s in heavy circulation this week. “Paper Planes” and “$10″ are my two favorite tracks, but overall I enjoy the random sampling of native African culture.

My boyfriend is not a fan of the chick rock that I champion. He refers to Regina Spektor as Vagina Rectum, Vanessa Carlton as “Bitch with a Piano” and don’t even get me started on Amy Winehouse. However, he is a huge (bordering on obsessed) fan of CAKE. After listening to Comfort Eagle multiple times (in the past 2 days alone), I’ve come to the conclusion that CAKE is the straight man’s answer to dance-y, sing-along chick jams (see Feist, Goldfrapp, Kate Nash). Owen venomously refutes this revelation despite the fact I just saw him dancing in front of the bathroom mirror.
