Seriously, this collection has been out for less than a week, and I’ve already made two trips to Target. Filled with feminine prints, floating dresses/tops and menswear-inspired basics, Jovovich-Hawk is a must.
Definitely adorable and perfectly acceptable for spring if belted and paired with gladiator sandals (Old Navy sells an affordable version).
One of my purchases. Work approperiate but able to let loose when paired with dark denim.
For my favorite leggy lady.
My second purchase. Perfect boho-chic. This picture doesn’t do the vintage-washed denim justice. I believe this piece may withstand the test of trends.

I declare Shiner’s “99″ my favorite brew for March. It was a heated battle between “99″ and “Pete’s Wicked Ale,” but “99″’s smooth finish conquered all. Go grab a six pack before this seasonal beer is no more.

I have to write a to-do list to accomplish even the most mundane tasks such as get my pants tailored and pay a toll bill. I’m not very motivated to be an adult.

In theory, I enjoy boys who are incredibly giving, creative, book smart, facial-hair free and athletic. They have to be completely supportive of me sometimes at their own expense and go to great lengths to confess their undying devotion. Also, they should be very neat as I am germaphobic.
Yet, my perfect boy ended up being a bearded chemist who enjoys backgammon more than basketball. He also is lazy, extremely messy, a bit of a smart ass and completely skeptical of me and all my lofty ambitions. I adore each of his discrepancies.
In my limited experience, I’ve found that those good-on-paper boys aren’t even OK in real life. They tend to be boring, at best. Because, true connection isn’t found in cookie-cutter qualities.
True connection is based on complementing one another; flaws and all. My good-on-paper guys aren’t ever long-term compatablie because I base them on a good-on-paper version of myself…completely disregarding all my quirks and weaknesses. For example, the good-on-paper Jennifer is a strong female who desires a supportive man. In real life, I’m crazy. I need someone to be firm and rational to snap me out of the darker times.
So, to all my ladies who can’t seem to find that special someone, the key is to be honest with yourself first. You have to look past your own good-on-paper mask to discover that amazing guy underneath the dog-hair covered, junker-car driving, knock-knock joke telling, extra-10 lbs. carrying exterior.

My weekend was spent cleaning, sleeping, watching movies, reading a little, playing Frisbee golf, shopping a bit and drinking a few beers (Pete’s Wicked Ale…yum). All in all, a delightful waste of time. Somehow, I also lost an hour of life.

My feet in the deep snow.

The snow was amazing (pics to come). However, the 2-hour drive home was less than thrilling, but I survived. Now, I’m off to navigate my icy driveway. Good morning.

This week’s nods bring a few new loves and a couple oldies, but goodies. Enjoy!
In the literary realm, I’m halfway through “This Is Not Chick Lit: Complete Stories By America’s Best Women Writers” edited by Elizabeth Merrick. This book is actually a collection of short fictional pieces written by a variety of reputable female writers. No beach-ready fluff read here. Each piece of this collection is a well-written, deep work sure to make you think (not escape your thoughts), because sometimes too many sweets can leave you feeling empty and slightly nauseous.
If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced thinker flick, check out Michael Clayton. The intricate plot involves mental illness, cancer-causing pesticide, corporate assassins and hot-ass George Clooney. Three thumbs up from my little family.
In music news, I’ve been reviewing my music collection to make a mix tape from my underexposed mommy. This recipe calls for a whole lot of Neko Case and Amy Winehouse with a side of Old 97’s plus a dash of The Flaming Lips for good measure. A dish to please even the most selective of tastes. If you’ve not heard any of the aforementioned artist (and you live under the same rock as my mother), check out Neko Case’s “Guided By Wire,” Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black,” Old 97’s “Rollerskate Skinny,” and The Flaming Lips’ “Fight Test.”
As always, let me know what you think of my selections or give me a few of your own. Happy rest o’ the week!

This morning I heard part of an interview with the Jonas Brothers. “Heard” being the operative word in that sentence, because I’m not sure I could discern anything amid all the screaming pubescent girls. Welcome, latest flash in the pan.
Far from a new concept, the Jonas Brothers are simply the Elvis of this generation (Hanson was my Elvis). Beautiful, stylish, mainstream and remotely talented (long hair and dance moves optional)..this formula, when applied to a few young boys, equals platinum records multiple times over and legions of adoring fans. That is until one of them comes out of the closet, goes to rehab or does lines off a stripper’s silicone breasts as her friend tapes it. Or until you and your fan base become to old to continue with the facade.
So, I say soak it up while you can, Jonas Brothers. Don’t complain about the crowds, because you’ll miss it when you’re washed up at the age of 26 and unrecognizable even to the clientele at your local Walmart.
PS The hardcore Hanson fanatics of my youth are now into Disturbed, have small children and LOATHE pop music. Yikes!
